PINEAPPLE - Christopher Colombus introduced the pineapple to Europe and it became a symbol of hospitality. In Old Hawaii, the pineapple was regarded as versatile and valuable: young and old alike drank its juice as a digestive aid, women used it as a skin beautifying aid, and warriors used it to heal wounds.
